Baking with apples is something I never will get tired of. This simple galette is like a quick baked apple pie, but reversed!

The galette can of course be baked with whatever fruits and berries you want. What makes it so easy to bake is that when the dough is rolled out, just put on the apples onto the dough and fold up the edges. Why not try this new version of apple pie?

Dough:

125 g all-purpose flour

125 g butter, at room temperature

50 g granulated sugar

1 egg

2 tablespoons milk

Filling:

4 big apples

2 tablespoons granulated sugar

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon cane sugar (for the edges)

Maybe some butter

Instructions:

  1. Cut the butter into smaller pieces and mix it together with the flour. It's supposed to be a crumbly dough.

  2. Add the sugar, eggs and milk and mix until the dough becomes smooth. Don't knead the dough.

  3. Put the dough in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes.

  4. Preheat the oven to 430 °F.

  5. Meanwhile, prepare the apples

  6. Choose whether you want peeled apples or not, core them and then cut the apples into thin slices.

  7. Put the apple slices in a bowl and mix together with the sugar and cinnamon.

  8. Remove the dough from the fridge and roll it out to a large round plate.

  9. Place it on a baking sheet with parchment paper, then arrange the apple slices tightly next to each other on the dough. Save about 3-4 cm around the edges.

  10. Fold up the edges so that the dough passes over the apples slightly. Sprinkle cane sugar on the edge of the galette (where you fold up).

  11. If you like, add some butter over the apples and bake the galette for about 20-25 minutes.

  12. Remove the galette from the oven and sprinkle it with some sugar. Leave to cool, then serve with ice cream!
