This apple pie, oh my! My absolute favorite when it comes to apple pies. The extra crumble on top makes it extra delicious!
Is there anything better than a juicy apple pie with a lot of cinnamon flavor and that extra crumble on top? This pie is something out of the ordinary and by making it in a round cake pan gives it that extra height.
The secret about this pie is that you have crumble dough both at the bottom of the pan and on top of the apples. In other words, twice as much crumble dough!

Bake the pie in a round 9 inch cake pan. The recipe is enough for 8 bigger or 12 smaller slices.
Crumble dough:
150 g butter
100 g oats
200 g granulated sugar
135 g all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
A pinch of salt
Filling:
6 medium-sized apples
20 g granulated sugar
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
2 tbsp cold water
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 390 °F.
Peel the apples and cut them into smaller pieces and put them in a saucepan. Add the sugar, cinnamon and cold water. Cook together for a few minutes (the apples should be a bit soft). Set aside.
Start with the crumble dough. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
Mix the other ingredients in a bowl (not the apples) and add the melted butter.
Divide the batter into two equal parts and add one of the parts to the cake pan. Press it out evenly into the bottom of the pan.
Add the apple pieces over the batter.
Then sprinkle the rest of the batter over the apples.
Bake for about 20-25 minutes.
Allow to cool a bit before you enjoy this delicious apple pie!
